Obviously that's the truth, however I think its a good idea to have it in our code vocabulary. I am using Tally for any kind of specified target, air and ground. Since I don't know how this game is at all I really can't say if it would be obsolete or not. But when doing fighter-bomber sorties in IL2, which basically is the same role just 60 years earlier - I have found it very useful for the whole flight's situational awareness.

But dogfighting a SU25 would have been fun, lol.

I thought 'Tally' was just a shortened variation of 'Tally-ho' - Flightmembers have targets designated, leader calls for the flight to start their attack

??

Anyone up for a flight tonight?

Friday sounds good....will be back home from visiting the family.  Itching to get some more action/practise.  Need to cut the time it takes me to get all my aircraft systems up and running so I don't miss the formation take offs.  Oh my call sign is Monkman of course but my inflight ID will be 74.

On the RWR (Radar Warning Receiver) you see only a Missile launch, you don`t know , if this missile from a friendly or enemy aircraft/SAM.
Are you sure about that? It basically detect when plane passes through radar rays. It cannot detect IR or laser lock unless you hit sensor itself which usually is somewhere at the end of plane (on top of tail for F-16). RWR shouldn't detect anything but radar (either ground ones or active missile radar) if it does detect Maverick then its a game bug. :)

The RWR display does show radar threats, but the aircraft's systems can also detect the high energy of a burning rocket motor. So when it detects that a rocket has been fired, it displays the letter M in a circle on the RWR display at the correct azimuth to the aircraft.

However, it cannot detect whether it is a friendly or enemy launched missile and so if no one calls "Rifle" and a missile launch is detected, we assume that either an IR SAM has been launched and so we dump plenty of flares, or a current radar threat has locked one of us and so we dispense plenty of chaff.

Idea for Light setup:

Startup:
Position Lights: Flash
Nose Illumination: OFF
Anti Collision: OFF
Bright/Dim: Pilots' call based on time of day, wx, etc.
Nosegear Main headlight: Taxi or OFF

Taxi:
Position Lights: Flash
Nose Illumination: OFF
Anti Collision: OFF
Nosegear Main headlight: Taxi

Takeoff:
Position Lights: Steady
Nose Illumination: OFF
Anti Collision: ON (when entering the runway)
Nosegear Main headlight: LAND

Flight:
Position Lights: Steady
Formation Lights: +BRT as needed
Anti Collision: ON
Nose Illumination: OFF except for Air Refueling

Hostile airspace:
ALL exterior lights OFF except Formation Lights.

Landing:
configuration same as Takeoff except as noted:
Anti Collision-OFF upon exiting runway.

You guys seen this IPad Server thing for controlling TADS?
Just installing it to try out. Looks a lot easier than looking
round for a button in TrackIR.

I bought it.... but it was a waste....
Perhaps the free may be better actually.

The attraction of the full version is the MFCD's... but to have to set up some sort of "layer" across you entire screen (for me over twp screen). Then you have to "cut out" were to get the images which are to be displayed on the Ipad. So you more or less "video" your desktop and send the MFCD video over yout ethernet/wifi... I dont think the system is good for a dual screen desktop with high res...
All in all NOT was I was looking for..  Then again I just messed around with it for half an hour...
