A-10 Warthog sim and flying...
« on: December 10, 2010, 11:31:48 AM »
Ok

Since there is no need to ruin the video post with all this flight sim stuff I made a new topic...
If some admin can merge in some posts, that would be great.

My Trustmaster Hotas Wartog finally arrived, thus off course the A10 sim is also in download..... So let's get a headcount who has this A10 sim, so I can start nagging to them when I can't even start the friggging bird.. lol

@Monkman...
Ok,  this need a tad getting used to in Arma 2 - especially since I'm not used to using "two hands" for trottle and joy...  and it  need some tweak and config with keys/bindings.
But WOW I say.. never ever had so much control over a chopper in Arma 2... jeez, was way more difference then I ever imagined!!

Perhaps the airforce can get some reinforcements once I get the hang of this!

Cat I seriously recomend that you go through the training course on DCS A10 engine start up..... It's gonna take a while for you to remember the correct sequence for engine start... But it's so cool once you do it....(I had issues trying to get it to start, as my Saitek is not a split throttle...and my keyboard is a gaming one, so I could not even use the keybinds..lol)  I can't wait to plug in the Thrustmaster and start up the A10, flicking switches on the throttle stick and then advancing on throttle and watching the engine RPM's climb.. Ooooooo  :P

I havn't re-installed DCS yet as I've been too lazy..... Was expecting to do it today, but found out that my Thrustmaster Warthog & Peddles wont arrive from Amazon till Monday now..  >:( >:( >:(

Once I have it, I will re-install A10 and get re-aquainted with it....Maybe we could do some missions togther once we learn the beast.

I also know WhereisBeef has A10 as well.........so maybe we could form our own CF DCS-A10 Squadron?

Ok Monk.. i've been messing around in A10 for hours now.. aint easy at all!!
And off course I'm doing the trainings.. but as you say.. remember all that.. yeeez!

Now I remember that I forgot to order the frigging pedals.. gotta do that asap.. I need proper rudder!!

Also can't get my track ir to work with A10:-(

I would love some online flying togheter.... would be awsome! Troska.. you're into all this flying.. you consider getting this?

@Ghost.. unsure what version it is to now, but I just downloaded the latest one avalible and installed it. have not installed any patches after the main install yet!
Off course you need to buy it (as in pre order it) to get access to the beta!

If you run A-10 64bit it don´t work at the moment, you must run the 32bit version of A-10.

Come on Ghost.. you know you cant wait for a release.. lol
It's beta 3 now, the latest version.

And from what i read, there is a minimum of serious bugs in the sim... - Thus it's apperantly very enjoyable once you spent 3 week learning the friggin thing.. lol

Dont even think about getting this simulator without a joystick Pig:-)

Well downloaded the Beta tonight and plugged in me G940 Stick n Throttle.
Already had a G940 profile in the Beta so it was simple getting Airborn.
Mm got to admit it's a lot more twitchy than flying an A10 ArmA2 Style. The
stick movements are so dam sensitive and stall so easy to get into; It's a
whole different game flying this beast.
Think I'll figure out a way I can use my peddles though. Sure it will improve
matters if I have full controls. It's a dam sight harder than "Wings Of Prey"
or even IL2Sturmovik. But I reckon it'll be more rewarding.
Can't see the Tom Clancy X Fighter crowd going for this one though ;)

PS I used the 64bit Version seemd OK and Track IR 4 works fine with it.

I'm downloading this now. I'm quite into flight simulation so I'll give it a go. I have a Saitek Pro Flight Yoke, Throttle and Rudder set (used for civilian flight sim) but I should be able to set it up to work with this....although I imagine it will feel like flying a pimped up Cessna :P

Haha Pimped Cessna.. lol..

If you like sim's you'll love it Daryl... but it takes some learning... yeez to remember all the buttons to press and in what order.. :-)

I got Track Ir only to work with 32bit.. not 64bit. What version are you running Roy (as in track IR software version and track ir)? I got Track IR software V5 and hardware V4.

Same Setup Version 5 TrackIR Software + TrackIR4
But I am using Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit may be Windows 7 thing Cat?

Jeez ran Quick Mission Builder thing put me in a CAS Mission cloudy as hell,
in a downpour. Couldn't see shit untill you flew above the clouds. Had to spot
for breaks to get a shot in. Dam awsome with full HDR and shimmering smoke.

Got the basics sorted... can fly and navigate and some killing as well.
Though dependent on the manual on the side when doing cold start or anything with target pod/Maverick and such...

But yeah, I'm really starting to like this... ordered the pedals today.. should be here by next weekend.

Track IR works in 32 bit, which is fine for now... wint using it all the time anyways, turn it on/off when needed.
